The impressive economic growth in India in the last decade, notwithstanding the level of rural poverty and unemployment, remains high and the problem of rural urban disparity continues to exacerbate. Existing rural institutions like the panchayats and the cooperatives have not been given space to develop and transform themselves. Instead, repeated attempts have been made to undermine their relevance. Unfortunately there are not enough institutions which can provide the desired inputs for formulating enabling policies and developing adequate manpower for holistic development.
It is in this context that the KIIT School of Rural Management (KSRM) has been conceived, keeping in view the current rural development needs of the country, particularly Eastern and North-East parts of the country. KSRM will also establish a strong tradition in research to identify and fill the research gaps in various areas of rural management and development. The KSRM will provide a forum where linkages among stakeholders like academic institutions, government agencies, public enterprises, NGOs and private entities can be strengthened through teaching, training, policy proofing, research, knowledge exchange and collaborations at the local, national and international levels.
MRM is the Flagship Programme of the School. It is prepares Students for Managerial Positions to professionalize oneself in the management of wide
variety of institutions working for the rural areas
SRM introduced a One year programme specifically targeted to train personnel in the NGO Sector. The programme would be launched in the
