Symposium – 2014

3rd National Rural Management Symposium
“Rural Entrepreneurship and Enterprise for Inclusive Growth”

KIIT School of Rural Management, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar

20th – 21st November 2014

KIIT School of Rural Management made an maiden attempt to enter into this new domain of knowledge, which might provide futuristic solutions to problems of poverty and employment in rural areas, leading to inclusive growth. An attempt was also made through the symposium to bring as many individual and institutions on this platform to understand “who” and “what” of Rural Entrepreneurship and Enterprise. The response was overwhelming and nearly all stakeholders engaged in academics, research and practice in this domain were represented in the symposium. Around 23 papers were accepted (two authors could not make up to oral presentation) spread over four tracks.

The added attraction of the symposium was special lectures by Dr Dinesh Awasthi, Director, EDI on “Policy Framework: Negotiating space for rural Entrepreneurs” and by Dr Anil P Joshi ,Director, HESCO, Dehradun on “Ecological Growth Measure: Gross Environment Product Concept”.

The speakers’ enthusiasm was visible in their engagement with the topic and the other participants were equally engaged as reflected in number and quality of questions raised. The meeting of Directors of schools of Rural management was held on the sidelines during the symposium.
